I needed a laugh this past week…Big-time.
And it’s not often that I’ll recommend a must-see. Yet, if you’re checking into this site, I think you’ll catch a few laughs by checking out the new HBO Documentary film on Don Rickles, “Mr. Warmth, The Don Rickles Project.”

My recollections of Don Rickles begin with his old Tonight Show appearances in the late ’70s. I have always been a big fan of how Rickles is able to respond with his quick rants and how he allows his energy to flow. f you’re a fan of hard-knock, witty, and quick street-smart humor, please check out this film.
Although I would have loved to have seen more relevant quotes from actors and comedians on Rickles, the filmakers did a great job of assembling a great cast of interviews that consist of Clint Eastwood, Billy Crystal, and Jimmy Kimmel that provide a lot of inside stories on Rickles’s career. The footage is even stronger, and I’m still cracking up at Rickles’s comments during President Reagan’s Inaugural Ball and Dean Martin’s Roast from the mid-’70s…Great footage.
Here’s a review from David Weigand of SFGate…Weigand gets the guy clapping. Here’s the schedule for you to catch during the Holiday break. If you don’t have HBO, here’s the chance to pick up the DVD. It’s worth it.
